Days Leading-up to Surgery

1) Remember to follow instructions for medications from your “pre-op phone call”, physician/specialist, and Dr. Geeslin’s team. Please call (802-847-2663) Dr. Geeslin’s office or send a message to his team with MyChart with any questions.

2) If you have specific forms or requests, please contact Dr. Geeslin’s office prior to the procedure.

3) If Dr. Geeslin has advised you that post-operative physical therapy will be necessary within the first 1-2 days after surgery, please confirm that this is scheduled.

Day of Surgery

1) Please plan to arrive at your requested time. Scheduled start time is an estimate, but because surgery may be unpredictable, some procedures may be longer/shorter than predicted and your surgery start time will be adjusted accordingly. In some cases, patients may be called to adjust arrival time on the day of the procedure or several days in advance; we appreciate your flexibility and understanding.

2) After surgery, Dr. Geeslin will talk to your family members if present. Additionally, Dr. Geeslin or a member of his team will talk to you to answer questions. Please note that the effects of general anesthesia and other medications will limit your detailed understanding of the discussion and that a full review of your procedure details will be provided at your first post-operative visit.

3) Post-operative instructions specific to your procedure will be provided by Dr. Geeslin and the recovery nurse will review these instructions with you. Please keep these for reference and contact Dr. Geeslin’s office with any questions.

4) It is important to have a responsible adult with you for 24 hours after surgery.
